| Martin McDonough - HR Coordinator
Martin McDonough comes to Christie Lites with more than 20 years of proactive-based and progressively responsible experience in human resources, strategic management and training within the real estate, hospitality and resort industries. He brings a proven ability to work with staff and senior management to integrate the human resources function within the overall business strategy. His strength is in department start-ups, high-end, growth operations, strategic planning and human resource modeling / metrics.
The early years…..
Martin’s business career started early when he began working in the restaurant industry at the age of 13 when one of his teachers opened a restaurant in his hometown. From operations to management, Martin stayed with this organization until joining Marriott International in Washington DC in 1981. For the next 14 years, Martin directed his career through operations and then moving into human resources and training. Following Marriott International, Martin went on to work with a restaurant developer, a hotel management company specializing in under-performing properties and ultimately working with and being a part of building a large-scale, master planned resort development company here in Orlando.
Martin’s business philosophy is simple. “Source the best and brightest in the industry and work very hard to retain them”. He believes that there is no “rocket science” to quality customer service; it’s just a matter of finding those that are passionate about their craft. “One must have a passion for their work, and that passion will carry you to the satisfaction you seek.”
When not at work, Martin has a variety of interests, to include working in the yard with “anything green” and riding his motorcycle. Martin and his wife Barbara are avid motorcyclists and members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG). With Martin on his Ultra Classic and Barbara on her Softail Deluxe, it is not uncommon to see them both “cruzin” the back roads and highways of Florida. These guys will ride over 200 miles just for lunch in Georgia! “Life is the journey, not the destination” responds Martin, “…so take the time to enjoy it”.
