Katie Hanford was born and raised in the live entertainment industry. With over 27 years of experience both onstage and behind-the-scenes, Katie comes with a clear understanding of the industry and the myriads of talented individuals who contribute to the success of any gig.

Katie married into the industry after meeting her husband on “the line” in a live theatrical production of, A Chorus Line. Having married a Broadway, touring and feature film veteran, Katie has a firsthand account of Broadway, feature film/television and touring life on the road.

In 2009, Katie graduated with honors from Pepperdine University in California with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts. Ranked #2 in the nation’s BA in Theatre Arts programs, Pepperdine equipped Katie with a diverse set of skills and hands on experience, paving the way for her to become an expert in several fields of live entertaining. While at Pepperdine Katie was recognized for her artistic creativity when she was awarded both “Dancer of the Year” and “Choreographer of the Year”. Attending university in the heart of Los Angeles afforded Katie endless opportunities to study directly under many notable industry mainstays, including: Billy Crystal (Actor), Jason Alexander (Actor), Ron Howard (Director/Producer), Debbie Reynolds (Choreographer/Dancer/Actress), and John Lasseter (COO Walt Disney Animation/Pixar).

Studying everything from Show Management to the technical aspects of Stage Lighting, Katie’s liberal arts education vastly prepared her for her role within Christie Lites. Her studies in lighting design covered both technical aspects of optics and electricity, as well as the artistic side of storytelling. While portraying the role of Romaine Patterson in Pepperdine’s production of The Laramie Project, Katie discovered firsthand the power of lighting and its ability to transform the way an audience perceives live entertainment. The story of Laramie stood alone as moving, but it was the addition of light that gave power to the artistic, life-altering experience in the theater.

Following graduation, Katie went back to her roots as a dancer and began work professionally in live entertainment at Six Flags Fiesta Texas where she started out as a featured performer and worked her way to the role of Choreographer, Writer, Director and eventually Show Production Manager for various IAAPA award-winning seasons.

Following the birth of her two children, Remmy and Maxx, Katie decided to retire her dancing shoes and opt for a professional role that provided a more stable environment. It was at this time Katie founded, developed and managed both the Dance and Musical Theatre Departments at a premier performing arts studio in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, while also serving as the Operations Manager for the Mid-South region of Best Buddies International working alongside Anthony Kennedy Shriver. Within these particular roles, Katie discovered her love for Management and Program Development.

Katie and her family happily relocated to Orlando, Florida in early January 2018 to follow her husband’s dream of performing and creating for Disney. In April, Katie walked through the doors of Christie Lites and has not looked back since.

Katie is dedicated to establishing a department capable of honing a solid show labor network that not only provides exceptional quality labor to accompany the best equipment in the biz, but also ensures each and every one of our technicians are taken care of throughout the entirety of every single gig.
