| Ken Alexander - VP Rentals
Ken's stage lighting career spans 47 years despite having been born in 1957.
After starting behind the scenes in grade-school, Ken worked backstage through high-school and eventually graduated with Honors in the Theatre Department of Western Washington University. During his ‘extended’ university run Ken took time off to work at the Julliard School in NYC and at Minnesota Opera, among others. After graduation he returned home to Vancouver where his college interest in dance (and dancers) was the backstage pass to his next (first) engagement.
Ken was LD and TD for various dance companies including The National Ballet of Canada, Ballet British Columbia, The Anna Wyman Dance Theatre and many others. These groups offered many years of international touring and a chance to see the world on someone else’s dime. While at home recurring local TD and PM jobs filled in the occasional down times.
In 1991, while on a stop in Toronto with the National Ballet, Ken met Huntly Christie and the original CL team when shopping for an alternate rental vendor. After a successful premiere they shook hands and agreed to stay in touch for future opportunities.
Christie Lites Vancouver officially opened with Ken and David Lloyd at the helm in 1992. During the first few years Ken continued to tour as ME for the national company of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat while back home the CLV family grew and prospered.
Ken is now VP Rentals for Christie Lites. He still spends much of his time on the road - between the 11 CL network offices and the company’s wide-ranging job-sites. His focus is on business development: supporting the Rental Rep team and a very loyal and ever-expanding client group.
Home is just outside of Vancouver, Canada in Richmond, B.C. Time away includes trips to Seattle for Seahawks and Mariners games and exploring the wide world with wife Tracy and recent new addition Scooby (Rottweiler / Shephard cross).
"I enjoy the incredible gifts of good health, good friends, and good luck. Being able to combine a creative life with ever-growing business opportunities is amazing. My career continues to offer excitement and challenges and I look forward to expanding my horizons for years to come.”
